6 rules for your successful website

As a web agency, we have had some experience on the subject over the past few years Web-Design, customer focus and Search Engine optimization collected. In our company there are a few rules that we are happy to pass on to our customers and of course we do not want to withhold them from you as a visitor to our website.
The most important thing in the implementation of a website or in the conversion of the Internet presentation is the clear strategywhat information and how this information should be processed on the web. But before that, it is very important what target audience should be addressed and which goals must be achieved with the website.
Rule #1

The customer is king!

The most important motto when designing a website is also the most difficult: You need to put the customer at the center of your website. The ability of a good customer-oriented website is to meet customer expectations with content, text, images and animations and thus offer the decisive competitive advantage.
As a web agency, we deal 90% with customers who already have a website, but which does not bring the desired success, since nobody deals with potential customers and their effects on the website.
Rule #2

Use clear navigation elements!

Make sure your website design makes navigation buttons easy to find. A customer who has to search for the navigation buttons for a long time or if they don't work will quickly become frustrated and leave your website again.

We generally recommend placing navigation elements on the left side of your website. Visitors are used to reading in this direction as it works the same as in everyday life. Even when reading a book or magazine, you first read the headlines and then the text - that's how it should be on a well-structured homepage.
Rule #3

Use a structured build!

Your website visitors should always have an overview of where they are and how to navigate to other pages on your website. For this we use menu items that change color, for example, when they are selected. Furthermore, we always try to place the main menu elements of a website in a clearly visible position. It is therefore important that visitors always know exactly where they are on the website and how they can obtain additional information about other products or services.
Do not forget that your visitors very often do not come directly from the start page to the website, but also - for example via links or search engines - land directly on one of the subpages. Especially then it is extremely important that your visitors keep track and know exactly which subpage they are on.
Rule #4

Note the loading times!

When designing our websites, we try to keep loading times as short as possible. Of course, the proportion of broadband Internet connections is increasing every day, but there is still a considerable number of visitors who use a slow Internet connection. A good website should load in less than 2-3 seconds. The longer it takes to build a website, the higher the probability that a potential customer will switch to the competition.
You can minimize loading times by compressing graphics and images. We only use so-called “content management systems“, which in most cases automatically compress these images and graphics for us.
Rule #5

Use a standard font!

Use a font that works with all web browsers and is easy to read. In most cases, we recommend Arial, Verdana, Georgia or Geneva, as these fonts are installed on most computers and operating systems and can therefore be displayed smoothly.
Don't forget that more and more visitors to the Internet also belong to the older audience! That is why it is important to adjust the font size accordingly.
Rule #6

Update your content!

Nothing is older than yesterday's information. The Internet is the medium par excellence, which allows every company to keep its products and services up to date. You have certainly been to a website that, for example, presented events or news items on the main page that were more than two years old. How did you feel about it?
It is also very important for search engines like Google that a website contains up-to-date information. The freshness of the content has an integral part in the calculation of the results for searches. In plain language this means: only an up-to-date website will manage to secure the coveted first places in Google.
