Market town of Deutschfeistritz

The market town with around 4.500 inhabitants is located approx. 15km north of Graz. The structure makes it one of the most popular residential communities in the north of Graz. Municipality of Wagna

The name Wagna can be found for the first time in documents from the 13th century as "Wagnach" = settlement at the river crossing. This may have been near today's Sulm Bridge. In the 16th century, a noble seat was built at the Aflenzer Sulmbrücke, from which the "Wagna" estate developed. The village of Wagna was under the rule of Seckau and had 1822 inhabitants in 196. In 1848 the manors were dissolved and the political municipality of Wagna came into being. During the First World War, a camp for war refugees and displaced civilians was set up. In August 1915, families from Friuli were brought to the camp, which in November 1915 numbered 21.286 refugees. Almost 3000 people died in the camp from cholera, typhoid and typhus. A separate Italian cemetery was established. After the collapse of the monarchy, this refugee camp became the settlement of Wagna.

Municipality Lebring - St. Margarethen

In 1066, a church "within the Hengistburg" was mentioned in a document. Whether this was St. Margarethen is not certain. In any case, in 1136 the church of St. Margaretha was transferred to the Suben monastery. As the southernmost parish of the Diocese of Seckau, St. Margarethen “iuxta Wildoniam” (near Wildon) was named in its founding document in 1218/19. The parish, which included the towns of Lebring and St. Margarethen, was looked after by the canons of the monastery until the reforms of Joseph II (1784). In 1896 the volunteer fire brigade was founded. The founding of the Raiffeisenkasse St. Margarethen near Lebring took place in 1899. In 1902 the Lebring power station was built. In 1915 a huge camp of barracks was built, the large barracks numbering about a hundred were divided into four square groups and were ready for military use.

Municipality of St. Kathrein am Hauenstein

A nobleman named Hugo established a fortified residence on a hill near St. Kathrein. The name Haustein should therefore be derived from "Hugostein". In the first half of the 1th century the castle was already abandoned and fell into disrepair. The church (“Hausteiner Hof mit Kirche”) is mentioned for the first time in a document. The former castle chapel may have been preserved as a rural place of worship. The village of St. Kathrein am Hauenstein developed around the former Meierhof of the Haustein manorial estate at the foot of the castle hill. Municipality of Fernitz-Mellach

The name Fernitz, which comes from the Slavic language and refers to a settlement on the "Föhrenbach", was adopted by the medieval settlers of the 11th and 12th centuries. They systematically laid out villages at continuous intervals on the elevated Mur terrace, which are to be regarded as the original Aribonian possessions. Fernitz originally comprised about 11 farms, Gnaning, first mentioned in a document around 1265, comprised 13 farms in the Middle Ages. As a result, the property was divided among various landlords through donations, sales and exchanges, so that at the time the manorial estates were abolished in Fernitz (1848), no fewer than eleven manorial estates in Fernitz were in possession. Until then, Fernitz belonged to the administrative area of ​​the manorial estate of Liebenau, which also exercised jurisdiction over minor offences. Blood crimes were subject to the jurisdiction of the Eggenberg Regional Court.

Market town Schwarzautal

The Styrian community initiative is an association of over 120 Styrian communities that do not agree with the municipal structure reform of the province of Styria. The core requirement of the initiative is that municipalities must carry out a mandatory referendum before a merger. Furthermore, it should be enshrined in law that forced mergers are no longer possible.

This should also be enshrined in the municipal code. In December 100, more than 2012 identical local council resolutions were handed over to the province of Styria. A positive decision was sent in January to the authorized recipient municipality of Markt Hartmannsdorf...

Municipality of Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben

With an interruption of 20 years (greater community of Piringsdorf-Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben), the community of Unterrabnitz and Schwendgraben has been an independent community with its own municipal office since 1991.
